MOUNT IDA

One of the most famous locations in the Greek Mythology can be considered as Mount Ida which is located near the Edremit Bay between Ayvacik and Edremit. Mount Ida is one of the two sacred mountains in the Greek mythology, equally named "Mount of the Goddess." According to the Greek Mythology, the first beauty contest was held in Mount IDA among the goddesses Aphrodite, Hera and Athena. This event was also considered as the origin of the Trojan War due to the jealousy of goddesses. The highest point of the Mount Ida is the Karatas Peak at the height of 1774 m. / 5820 ft. Mount Ida is composed of magnificent landscapes, restful green forests, and several springs and rivers.
